Pen’s FAQ

What are you all about?

I’m here on this planet to find meaning. With meaning comes growth. With growth comes wisdom. If this cause and effect doesn’t appeal to you, I probably won’t either.

“After nourishment, shelter and companionship, stories are the thing we need most in the world.”

−Philip Pullman

Why should I follow you on social media?

I spend a good deal of time sharing my stories, but more importantly, the stories of others that I find meaningful. If you read something I’ve written and find it to be of value, following me will fill up your various feeds with more thoughtful stories, ideas, and events. I look for things that can change perspective and shift worldview. I try to connect with others who do the same.

The down side of this is that I live a life where comfort zones are shattered almost as soon as they are identified. If you don’t value meaningful change, I’m probably not a good addition to your world. Growth is hard. Deal with it.

What genres do you write?

All of them. I know this is against the advice of many successful experts. Please don’t contact me to argue against the choice. I’m stubborn about certain things, and this is one of them.

I have an idea that you should turn into a story. How much will you pay for it?

Nothing. I have more ideas than writing time. Write your own story/stories. I highly encourage that. Every writer I know is either becoming wise or going mad, sometimes both at once. Avoid outsourcing storytelling. It will result in a more interesting life.

How do I contact you to share (insert emotional state here) that happened after I read (insert Penfist story here)?

I am generally civil and genteel in my approach to feedback. I don’t mind thoughtful criticism either. Here’s how you can share your feelings, thoughts, critiques and whatever else it is that finding me in the world engendered inside you. I saw that you do book reviews on Amazon.com — will you review my book?

It’s true that I believe that my writing ability is based on my reading experience. However, I have a huge backlog of pending reviews. If you have an interesting proposal, send it my way. However, don’t expect me to turn around a review in rapid fashion. It might take a year or three.
